A popular option for people with 1965-66 Mustangs is to build a replica (or clone) of the 1965 Shelby R-Model.

The R-Model was essentially a factory prepared race car available from the dealership for the original sticker price of $5,950.00 (plus tax)… oddly enough, racing bucket seats were an option.
Some of the factory installed options were an oil cooler, fiberglass front apron, fiberglass hood with scoop, racing type locker, brake air scoops (not side scoops - the front apron had ducts which fed air to the front brakes), roll bar, fire proof interior, side windows were replaced with aluminum framed plexi-glass type windows, a plexi-glass type rear window with air extractor, quarter panel windows were removed and covered up with a metal panel, radio and heater were removed and block off plates were installed, and a special instrument panel with racing type gauges was installed.
The cars were also equipped with Magnesium type 15″x7″ lightweight wheels just like the American Racing Torque Thust wheels we offer.

We all know that the 1967 Shelby didn’t come equipped with floor console (like the 68 did) but many customers building tribute/replica/Eleanor cars would really like to have a console.

Available due to popular demand! This new console is custom designed to fit the 1967 Mustang or Shelby. We have them available to fit either Fastback or Convertible cars.
Black with satin aluminum center to match the 1967 deluxe interior scheme. The front has cutouts for two gauges which will accept 2 1/8″ gauges (gauges are not included). Both sides have black carpeting. Has compartment with super soft lid and the Shelby snake logo embossed in silver. The rear of the console features an interior light and cigarette lighter style power outlet (wiring pigtail included).
Even though the original 1967 Shelby never had a center console option this would be a wonderful addition to your Shelby, Mustang, Eleanor or Tribute car.
Please note: The hole for the shifter must be cutout for your application. This was done to accomodate a large variety of shifters and automatic vs. manual transmissions. The customer is responsible for making this modification to the console. Please be advised that while this is required for installation of the console it will render the item non-returnable. We recommend having a skilled automotive shop perform the modification for best results.
Additional Note: It is not possible to install the 1967 Shelby Underdash gauge pod with this console installed.
According to many of our customers this hood scoop original designed for the Cobra Roadster fits and looks excellent on the 2005-2008 Mustangs. The parts is made from fiberglass and has a lip around the outside which allows it to be either molded into the hood or installed with rivets like on some of the Cobra Roadsters.
